Resurrected an old Web Site...

Been a busy day so far. I decided to resurrect a web site I created several years ago.

Many years ago I created a web site as a means to share some of my genealogical finds with other researchers into the Sluder surname. With all of the personal things going on in my life I didn't have time to maintain the site so I took it down after a year or so. Now that I've gotten back into researching my roots I've decided to resurrect the site.

My little corner of the genealogy world on the internet is called All Things Sluder and is hosted at freehosting.net, which as its name implies is a free site hosting entity. So far I've just created the an index and home pages. In the future I will be adding picture and text information pages.

Why not stop at my site.

Hello...

Hello all and thank you for visiting my blog. My name is Pete and I decided to create a blog to discuss one of my hobbies, genealogy.

I became interested in studying my roots back in the mid 1980s. My father was corresponding with a distant relative in Indiana who is a genealogy buff. Included in this distant relative’s correspondence was information about several of my ancestors. My father shared this information with me and I became hooked. Over the next several years I was amassed information about my immediate family, aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents. Acquiring this information was time consuming and labor intensive because it was all paper based.

When I purchased my first personal computer in 1995 finding data became a bit easier. With access to the Internet I was able to search on-line for people. It was, and still is, amazing at the amount of information available with a few keystrokes. In addition, I came across many Sluders who were also researching their family roots. Some are known relatives of mine while others share the last name but have no discernable relationship. I learned that genealogical researchers are a friendly group willing to share information in a never-ending search for more branches to add to their family trees.

My genealogical search has been on hiatus since 2001 but after almost seven full years away from genealogy I've started researching again. Along with researching I want to share my experiences and share information that may useful to other researchers.
